We are looking for a Head of Propulsion Engineering to join our dynamic team in Italy. In this pivotal role, you will manage the Propulsion engineering division, overseeing the research, development, testing, and the various propulsion systems of different programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end process of propulsion system design, testing, and deployment, starting from initial concept studies through to operational missions.
  • Provide dynamic leadership to the propulsion team and guide junior staff in propulsion sub-system research and development, encompassing design, testing, and delivery. This includes effective task allocation and the implementation of comprehensive training and mentorship programs.
  • Identify and communicate technical and programmatic risks and challenges, proactively developing mitigation strategies and implementing rapid, effective solutions.
  • Support grant activities, studies, and research and development initiatives as required.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to facilitate the growth of the propulsion engineering team as necessary.
  • Your role will extend beyond technical expertise to efficient departmental operations, ensuring that all team members fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • In-depth technical proficiency in the design, testing, and analysis of propulsion systems.
  • Expertise in handling safety-related issues associated with propulsive/pressurized development and testing, including the management of hazardous materials such as flammable gases and oxidizers.
  • Resilience and adeptness in working within a fast-paced environment with tight schedules.
  • Strong familiarity with ECSS standards.

Preferential Skills:

  • Research and Development experience in green propulsion systems.
  • Previous hands-on experience with N2O.
  • Financial acumen, coupled with skills in schedule and task management.

Education:

Advanced University Degree (PhD, master's degree or equivalent) in Aerospace/Space Engineering or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in the space/aeronautical industries.
  • Managerial activities experience of at least 4 years.

Language:

Full professional proficiency in the English language is mandatory.
