D-Orbit is looking for a MAIT System Engineer to join our Manufacturing Assembly, Integration and Testing (MAIT) team. As a MAIT Engineer, you will be involved in the Assembly, Integration, and Testing of already flight-qualified platforms and future products. Your ultimate objective as a MAIT engineer is to ensure our products are built and tested to high standards and certified ready-for-flight.

 

Working shoulder-to-shoulder with D-Orbit's manufacturing team and system designers, you will be tasked with preparing and maintaining all necessary AIT procedures and plans in addition to proposing new ways of testing and assembling the various subsystems. You will also work closely with our Product Assurance Managers to define and write up MAIT processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•         Supporting the Integration and testing of satellites under clean room conditions from components acceptance to launch campaign shipment

•         Update and maintain the satellite manufacturing workflow, including the customization phases related to Payloads integration and testing

•         Review and approve all unplanned work relevant to their process. Deviation Plans and As Runs specific to the process before execution

•         Create the documentation required for the production phases, including: work instructions, procedures and specifications.

•         Work closely with the quality team for inspections, investigations and non-conformance

•         Technical Input to project/product to ensure that new processes and test methods are optimized for AIT activities (Design for Manufacture / Assembly & Design for Test).

•         Definition and Design of tooling for manufacturing execution

•         Responsible for ensuring that our working modes and processes are standardized, optimized, and current.

 

This role will involve occasional travel to supplier and test facilities and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

 

Requirements:

•         At least 2 years of professional experience in a Manufacturing & Production Engineering environment within the Aerospace industry.

•         Knowledge of System Engineering and system-level knowledge of spacecraft subsystems

•         Good understanding and detailed experience of all types of Manufacturing Systems.

•         Support to production and knowledge of machining, assembly and detail fitting processes.

•         Experience in writing engineering documents, Procedures and Process control.

•         Quality driven approach with high attention to detail.

•         Knowledge of Health and Safety principles and their application to the specific environment.

•         High self-motivation and excellent organizational & prioritization skills

•         Proactive attitude and ability to work in a team.

•         Professional proficiency in English.

•         Degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or a related discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•         Knowledge of the relevant ECSS standards for the Space sector

•         Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of Test (functional testing, Electrical bonding/isolation, Vibration, TVAC)

•         Experience in design and implementation of ground equipment (tooling, Jigs and test equipment).

•         Clean room experience.

•         Knowledge of improvement philosophies.

•         Being fluent in Italian is a vital asset.
